I cannot believe that Plushenko thinks he deserves to win the gold. AND I cannot believe that Stojko has joined the "quad rules" ranks. (Although Elvis was a one dimensional skater himself so not really a surprise there!) Plushenko clearly thought that if he delivered the quad/triple combination and nothing else he would win. His program had no other content -- all front end jumps (many of which were shakey) and the slooooooooowest footwork of the top calibre of men. What was all the blowing kisses crap? What was he thinking? Clearly the Russion federation forgot that the new rules demanded quality footwork, spins AND gave bonus marks for triple jumps after the half way point. As a former skater/coach I am THRILLED that the rules give due reward for difficult footwork and spins. Figure skating is NOT about delivering one jump.... the end. That is so done.
