ISU Junior Grand Prix makes its fifth stop in Slovenia

OTTAWA, ON: Skate Canada will have four entries at the fifth stop on the ISU Junior Grand Prix of Figure Skating in Bled, Slovenia from September 26-29, 2012. Canada will be represented in three disciplines, ladies, men’s, and ice dance.

Julianne Séguin, 15, Longueuil, Que., will represent Canada in the ladies division. This is her second career international assignment on the ISU Junior Grand Prix circuit, having placed seventh in the first event this season in Courchevel, France. She is coached by Josée Picard and Marc-André Craig at CPA Brossard.

Roman Sadovsky, 13, Vaughan, Ont., is the Canadian entry in the men’s division. This is also Sadovsky’s second international assignment. Earlier this season, he won bronze at the ISU Junior Grand Prix in Lake Placid, USA. He is coached by Tracey Wainman and Gregor Filipowski at the YSRA Winter Club.

Ice dancers Andréanne Poulin, 17, L’Île-Bizard, Que., and Marc-André Servant, 21, Vaudreuil, Que., will be one of two entries for Canada in ice dance. This is Poulin and Servant’s second assignment on the ISU Junior Grand Prix circuit this season. They won bronze on the second stop of the ISU Junior Grand Prix earlier this season in Lake Placid, USA. They are coached by Shawn Winter at the Pierrefonds Sportplexe 4 Glaces.

Caelen Dalmer, 15, Victoria, B.C., and Shane Firus, 18, North Vancouver, B.C., are the second entry in ice dance. This is their second international event. Last season, they placed ninth at the ISU Junior Grand Prix in Milan, Italy. The team trains at the B.C. Centre of Excellence under coaches Megan Wing and Aaron Lowe.

Carolyn Allwright of Kitchener, Ont. is the team leader at the event and Reaghan Fawcett of Aurora, Ont., and Sylvain Guibord of Brossard, Que., are the Canadian officials at the event.
