Gérard Châtaigneau, Canadian photographer and a dear friend of figure skating, passed away on Monday of this week after suffering a heart attack.

Gérard was passionate about photographing figure skating and has been taking photos of the sport for over two decades. A regular at figure skating events around the globe, Gérard’s reputation for being a gifted photographer was well-known and respected by his colleagues. Skate Canada has had the privilege of using his photographs for various web and printed materials through his kindness.

Gérard produced the Figure Skating Calendar every year, in which he highlighted top skaters from around the world through his lens. Every year he contributed very generously to the Athlete Fund as a thank you to the athletes for allowing him to use their images in his calendar.

Grard passion for the sport and life will never be forgotten and will live on in his photographs. Our thoughts and prayers go out to his family and friends.
