Kiira Korpi was born on September 26, 1988 in Tampere, Finland.  She started skating in 1993 and currently trains with Maaret Siromaa and Susanna Haarala at the Tappara Figure Skating Club.  Nationally she 2004 Finnish Junior National Champion and the 2009 Finnish National Champion having also won three silver medals and one bronze medal since 2003.  She first started skating on the ISU Junior Grand Prix Circuit in 2003 and was the 2004 Pokal der Blauen Schwerter champion.  She qualified for the 2005 ISU Junior Grand Prix Final where she came 4th overall.  Her highest placement at the ISU World Junior Championships was 10th overall in 2005.  Skating on the ISU Grand Prix Circuit during the 2006-2007 season, Kiira placed 4th overall at the 2007 Cup of Russia Event.  She has made three appearances to the ISU World Championships and one appearance at the 2006 Winter Olympic Games.
