Takahiko Kozuka was born on February 27, 1989 in Nagoya, Japan. He started skating in 1994 andcurrently trains at Chukyo University. His coaching team includes Nobuo Sato, one of the most successfulcoaches in Japan as well as the father of Yuka Sato. He is also coached by Kumiko Sato, the wife of Nobuo Sato aswell as his father Tsuguhiko Kozuka who is also a former Japanese National FigureSkating Champion. Kozuka’schoreographer is Yuka Sato, the 1994 World Champion. Kozuka first competed at the Japanese Figure SkatingChampionships in 2005 where he placed fourth. He won his first international junior title in 2005 at theSBC Trophy. He then proceeded towin the 2006 ISU Junior Grand Prix Final as well as the 2006 World JuniorChampionships. Kozuka won hisfirst international senior medal at the 2006 NHK Trophy where he placedthird. In 2008, Kozuka won hisfirst Japanese medal at the 2008 Japanese National Championships when he placedsecond. That same year he managedto win the silver medal at the 2008 ISU Grand Prix Final and made his firstappearance at the 2008 Four Continents Championships where he placed 8th. He won his first international title atthe 2008 Skate America event. Kozuka is currently the 2009 Japanese Silver Medallist and the 2008 ISUGrand Prix Silver Medallist.
